Which in-lite transformer should I choose?

Choosing the right in-lite transformer mostly depends on two factors: the total power consumption of your garden lighting and the level of control you want. In general, there are two main series.

1. The standard HUB (button control)

Do you want a reliable system that is easy to use? Then choose the in-lite HUB 75. This is the powerful successor to the well-known HUB 50 and HUB 100.

• Control: Via touchscreen buttons on the transformer.
  
• Functions: Equipped with a light sensor and timer. The lights switch on automatically when it gets dark.
• Zones: Two cable outputs that switch together.
• Motion sensor: Can be expanded with a motion sensor: in-lite MOVE. With the HUB 75, this can be linked to 1 or 2 zones. With the HUB 50 and HUB 100, it switches together.

Please note: The in-lite HUB 50 and HUB 100 are being discontinued. They are still available while stocks last but will be replaced by the more versatile HUB 75.

2. The SMART HUB (app control)

Do you want full control via your smartphone? Then choose a SMART HUB. Using a stable Bluetooth Low Energy connection, you can control your lighting with the in-lite app.

• Models: The new SMART HUB 75 (for an average garden) and the SMART HUB 150 (for larger gardens).
• Functions: Set routines, control lights manually from your sofa, and use the astronomical clock.
• Zones: SMART HUBs have 2 (SMART HUB 75) or 3 (SMART HUB 150) cable outputs that can be controlled individually.
• Smart lamps: Do you want to use in-lite smart lights (such as the TONE series)? Then a SMART HUB is required.

Tip: For very large projects, there is the SMART HUB 300. However, this works on 21V and requires specific advice and cabling. You cannot apply this directly to an existing in-lite system. Get in contact with us for tailored advice.

Calculating the installation load (VA)

How powerful does your transformer need to be? You can calculate this by adding together the VA of all the lights you want to connect. For every in-lite fixture, the VA value is clearly listed in the product specifications.

• Example: Do you want to install 10 spotlights of 3 VA and 5 ground spots of 5 VA?
  Total load: (10x3) + (5x5) = 55 VA.
  
• Advice: In this case, the HUB 75 (up to 75 VA) is suitable. Does the total exceed 75 VA? Then choose the SMART HUB 150.

Expert tip: Always allow some spare capacity for future expansions. If the calculations are already close to the maximum, you won't be able to add extra lights later. In that case, it's better to choose a more powerful transformer right away.

in-lite HUB: safe and easy to install

All in-lite HUB transformers operate on a 12V low-voltage system. This makes the installation safe for people and pets and suitable for DIY installation.

The transformer converts standard 230V mains power into a safe 12V output, which is distributed through the in-lite ground cable. You can place this cable freely through the garden and connect lights anywhere along the line using the Easy-Lock connectors. Adding extra lights or moving existing ones is easily done and does not require changes to the transformer or cabling. Always make sure the total VA load of your connected fixtures stays below the maximum capacity of the HUB you are using.
